Summer to read Isaiah

Good Morning!!!

As I was leafing through my bible this morning I wanted to read a book that I haven't read all the way  through before.  I have read many parts of Isaiah before, but never chapter after chapter.  So looking at the book, this feels Ike the right one.  I want to read an Old Testament book and several New Testament , along with some of the Apocrypha Books.

Isaiah - Chapter 1

This book contains messages about Judah and Jerusalem which God revealed messages to Isaiah, son of Amoz.

God was very pest with his people.  He didn't want their sacrifices. He didn't want their prayer.  They were a sinful people and were not doing these things with clean hearts.

God did want his people to be saved.  He wanted his faithful city back.  He is telling everyone to repent. If they truly repent, they will be saved.  If not, God will destroy them.

This is the essence of chapter 1.

Tobit

Chapter 1 and 2

Tobit obeyed God.  He lived in Ninevah.   He worshipped him and kept true to Him even though he was not around others who did the same. He was faithful always to God, even though he may end in exile or killed.  He would bury the dead and give people food when they were in need.  Family celebrations would turn into funerals because as Tobit tried to be generous, good people would be k killed. He went blind for four years.  His wife, Anna, went to work weaving and she was paid a salary plus a goat.  When she got home with goat, Tobit thought she stole it.  But she didn't, she was  given as an additional payment.  They quarreled, but she had the last word.  "Now I see what you are really like!  Where is all that concern for others?  What about all those good deeds you used to do?"
